The skin on the lips is the most tender of all. It needs as much care as your face. Growing pollution and harmful UV rays tend to make the skin on lips dry, cracky, and dark. With the rapidly expanding beauty market, new products are added now and then which makes it difficult to invest in the right product and the right amount. Here are some home remedies that will be helpful in your lip care regime.
Lip Polish:
- Sugar: 1 tablespoon
- Olive Oil: 1 teaspoon
- Coconut Oil: 1 teaspoon
Sugar works as a natural scrub and helps to remove dead skin. Olive oil is rich in Vitamin E and Omega fatty acids which moisturizes skin and help in reducing the harmful effects caused by sun exposure. Coconut oil has been an age-old remedy for dry skin. It reduces inflammation and relieves dry skin.
How to use:
Grind sugar for few seconds in a grinder to form a coarse powder. Add the oils and form a paste. Apply this paste and scrub on your lips gently for 5 minutes. Rinse it with lukewarm water. It will make your lips soft and smooth instantly.
Lip Balm:
- Ghee: 1 tablespoon
- Beetroot juice: few drops
In ancient days when no moisturizers were known, ghee was the only cosmetic people used to nourish their skin and hair. Besides having Vitamin A, D, E, and K, it is also rich in Omega fatty acids. Beetroot juice gives it a red crimson color.
How to use:
Mix the two ingredients. Transfer the mixture into a travel kit cream jar and store it in a refrigerator. Ghee solidifies in the fridge. Apply this on your lips to get a red tint as well as a homemade lip balm.
Lip Oil:
- Grapeseed oil: 1 tablespoon
- Saffron: few strands
Grapeseed oil gets absorbed easily in the skin. It evens out skin tone and helps to lighten it. Saffron is known for its healing properties and reduces hyper-pigmentation. It is used in many anti-aging face creams.
How to use:
Store this in a dropper bottle. Let it stay for a week, allow the saffron to get infused in the oil before you start using it.
Lip Sleeping Mask:
- Aloe vera gel: 1 teaspoon
- Almond Oil: few drops
Aloe vera gel is a naturally occurring moisturizer used to soothe skin. Adding almond oil makes it a good combination for dry, cracky skin.
How to use:
Before going to bed, apply this mask on lips massage it for while, and let it stay throughout the night. It will hydrate your lips and make them ready for next-day UV rays exposure.
